This delicious, cheesy bread served hot right from the oven with a big bowl of soup will be one of your favorites. This is an easy recipe and the bread is so good. So good in fact, it doesn’t even need butter! 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese 1 teaspoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper 1 cup buttermilk 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted 2 eggs In a large bowl combine flour, cheese, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pepper. In a smaller bowl beat eggs, melted butter and buttermilk together with a whisk. Add to flour mixture and mix with a spoon just enough to wet all the ingredients. Pour mixture into a loaf pan that has just the bottom of the pan sprayed or greased. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before removing from pan. Makes one loaf.
