There’s more then meets the eye…

The other night I was sitting on my couch watching TV when my big furry baby boy started getting a case of the crazies.  You know.. when their eye’s get huge and they start twitching and running a NASCAR race around the house for no reason…Well, I started teasing him through the slits in the coffee table and he climbed up and laid down looking at me.. this is what I saw

Biscuit

Yes I know.. he’s so cute!!!  At the same time that I’m looking at this adorable face my husband who is sitting on the side on the love seat starts giggling… he snaps a picture and show’s me…  This is what he saw

Steve Irwin

My son absolutely loved Steve Irwin.  We looked forward to watching him every week and we were both saddened by his untimely death.  Steve was an amazing humanitarian who lived and died doing what he did best, educating people about animals.

It doesn’t feel like it’s been 7 years since his death… and I can still picture my 4 yr old son (at the time) standing in a store holding a fake snake saying “Danger, danger , danger” and having everyone in the store laughing!

I know why the caged bird sings by Maya Angelou

A free bird leaps on the back
Of the wind and floats downstream
Till the current ends and dips his wing
In the orange suns rays
And dares to claim the sky.

But a BIRD that stalks down his narrow cage
Can seldom see through his bars of rage
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
Of things unknown but longed for still
And his tune is heard on the distant hill for
The caged bird sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
And the trade winds soft through
The sighing trees
And the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright
Lawn and he names the sky his own.

But a caged BIRD stands on the grave of dreams
His shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with
A fearful trill of things unknown
But longed for still and his
Tune is heard on the distant hill
For the caged bird sings of freedom.
